The Edge Lighting shoots lights towards the centre of the screen and then is redirected through prisms. This new technology allows companies such as Samsung to achieve such thin panel designs as there is nothing behind the screen. This design also decreases energy consumptions as there are fewer lights used compared to a standard direct LED design.
